"The Young Pope," featuring Jude Law as the Vatican's youngest and first American pope in history, Lenny Belardo, who is also known as Pius XIII, is set to premiere on Jan. 15 on HBO. According to TV Series Finale, HBO is experimenting on a new schedule for "The Young Pope."

The first episode of the series debuts on Sunday, Jan. 15, while the second episode follows the next day, Jan. 16, maintaining the same time slot. This will be the schedule of "The Young Pope" on HBO all throughout its first season.

Meanwhile, a second season for "The Young Pope" is already in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, series producer Lorenzo Mieli shared at the premiere of "The Young Pope" in Rome that Wildside is already developing its second run. Their plan is to present the second season's screenplay to "The Young Pope" collaborators — HBO, Sky, and Canal Plus — after Sorrentino is finished with it.

Sky Italia chief of content Andrea Scrosati said that although they are hopeful of pushing through with a second season, "nothing is signed yet."

HBO released a behind the scenes preview for "The Young Pope," showcasing how productions recreated the Vatican and revealing that all the costumes were handmade. Law shared most of his thoughts about how the whole film productions went and what made him push through in playing the part of Belardo.

"What I loved when I read this, and why I think it's gonna be a joy to watch is a fantastic combination of drama with a beautiful wit. Any good drama is like that. And this one has it in spades," Law explained.

Law shared in a previous interview with Radio Times that he is expecting someone to get offended by the series, but he explained that his goal is to open discussion and debate about the issues that "The Young Pope" presents.

"The Young Pope" premieres on Sunday, Jan. 15, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
