'Thor: Ragnarok' release date, news and updates: Fan theory states that Cate Blanchett's Hela may hold the Soul Gem
"Thor: Ragnarok" will be the third solo "Thor" movie, and it will introduce Cate Blanchett as the villain Hela. A fan theory suggests that Hela may be in possession of the final Infinity Gem, the Soul Stone.
According to ComicBook.com, two fan theories have popped up online on who could be in possession of the last Infinity Stone. One theory is that it is with Heimdall (Idris Elba), the gatekeeper of Asgard. It's said that he has the ability to see every soul in the nine realms because he is in possession of the gem.
Another theory is that it is actually in the possession of Hela. Hela is considered to be the Asgardian Goddess of Death, and she is said to have powers of resurrecting the dead to do her bidding. If this is the case, it's possible that she has the stone since she has the ability to give souls to dead beings.
Of course, this is just a fan theory at best. So far, all but one stone has been revealed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have all seen the Space Stone (Tesseract), the Mind Stone (Vision), the Reality Stone (Aether), the Power Stone (Orb from "Guardians of the Galaxy"), and most recently the Time Stone (Eye of Agamotto) in "Doctor Strange." No news has been said on when the last stone will be revealed, but it's a good chance that it could very well be in the third "Thor" movie.
Some fans are even speculating that Blanchett will return in "Avengers: Infinity War" as her character Hela will be replacing the role of Mistress Death in the comics. In the "Infinity Gauntlet" comic arc, Thanos kills half the universe in order to please the literal embodiment of Death. Since the concept seems to be a bit abstract for the movies, Hela taking part in the film would make more sense in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — especially if she's in possession of the final Infinity Stone.
Thor: Ragnarok" which airs on Nov. 3, 2017.
