Christian athlete Tim Tebow made his first public appearance with the Philadelphia Eagles NFL team this Thursday during a team event in the east coast city.

Tebow told reporters Thursday that he is thrilled for the opportunity to join the Philadelphia Eagles team for a one year standard contract.

"I think sometimes when things are taken away, then you don't realize how much fun it is to come out here and play this game," Tebow told USA Today Sports during a team activities event in Philadelphia on Thursday.

"You can't play it forever, so I'm going to enjoy it," the NFL quarterback added.

Tebow also offered praise to Eagles coach Chip Kelly and his fellow teammates, saying that he's excited to join the team for the 2016 season.

"I think you just go out and you compete and you try to earn whatever you can," Tebow said. "It's just about competing, trying to get better every day and that's the goal."

Kelly also emphasized to reporters on Thursday that Tebow will be playing quarterback and no other position for the Eagles.

"He's a quarterback," Kelly emphasized Thursday. "That's how we're looking at Timmy. We're not looking at him at any other position."

"You guys will see him today. Watch him throw. I think he's improved," Kelly continued. "He's spent a lot of time in the last few years in terms of working on his game."
