'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege' Release Date Set for Oct. 13 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One
After months of rumors, the release date for "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" has finally and officially been announced: Oct. 13, 2015. Along with the announcement came a trailer and news about the special editions of the game.
The release of the game in North America and Europe will bring the tactical first-person shooter to PCs and the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console.
The trailer with the game's release date did not provide much in terms of gameplay, but details revealed so far indicate that a five-member team will take another five-member team in the game. One team will be composed of terrorists while the other will feature counter terrorists.
The terrorists in the game will be holed up in fortified buildings or aircraft while the counter terrorist team will have to break through the fortifications, kill the terrorists and rescue the hostages.
The trailer revealed some of the tools available to the counter terrorist team. These include explosive charges, hammers and even bullets capable of working like drills.
"Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" was announced during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles in 2014. Ubisoft then stated that the game would realistically portray the tactics employed by counter terrorism units.
Last April, a closed alpha was held for the game. Those who have pre-ordered the game will get to take part in the beta which is due to take place before the game is released in October.
As for the special editions of the game, they have only been announced for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Nevertheless, they are expected to eventually land in North America. The editions include the Art of Siege, which will feature the main game along with a Gold Skin Pack for weapons, a tactical guide and a collector's box. The Gold Edition of the game will have a season pass tacked on to the Standard Edition of the game. The Tactical Elite Edition will combine both the Art of Siege Edition and Season Pass.
