Tom Clancy's 'The Division' Release Date: Pre-Orders Now Available for Most Awaited Game
Attention, Tom Clancy fans: The most awaited video game "The Division" is now available for advance orders online.
The game's release date has been announced for the U.S. but not yet for the U.K.
The Division is the newest game in the Tom Clancy franchise, which started in the 1990s when the late American novelist and historian founded Red Storm Entertainment, PC Advisor reported last week.
It is a multi-player, third-person tactical shooter and role-playing game that uses Ubisoft's new Snowdrop engine, which is designed for the new generation of consoles.
The player is part of The Division, a unit of tactical agents trained to operate independently of command to prevent society from falling apart after a man-made pandemic has struck New York City.
The Division comes after the Rainbow Six series, the Ghost Recon series, the Splinter Cell series and more. If this first instalment is a success, PC Advisor said it will possibly start a whole new series in the franchise.
Pre-orders for the PlayStation 4 platform are now being accepted by Amazon U.S. for $59.99, with a release date of Dec. 31 this year.
On the other hand, Amazon U.K. also accepts pre-orders for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Its current price tag is £39.99 ($60.78) for PC and £44 ($66.88) for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. No release date has been specified.
PC Advisor said if the price drops before the initial release, gamers will pay the lower amount.
Ubisoft previously announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2013 that the game is already being developed and that it will be released in 2014. However, it later announced that they need more time before the game hits the shelves.
"Working on The Division is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us at Massive, Reflections, and Red Storm Entertainment. We are creating something we are really proud of and we don't want to compromise on quality. We are going to release the game when it's ready," said the game developers in an update last May.
However, an unnamed developer told Game Reactor that the 2015 release date "is a tad bit optimistic" after Ubisoft made the announcement.
