'Tom Clancy's The Division' Survival DLC release date, gameplay news: Players need to survive cold, hunger, thirst and diseases
The upcoming downloadable content (DLC) called "Survival" for Tom Clancy's "The Division" will live up to its title and challenge players to reach the end point only if they manage to survive the extreme cold, hunger, thirst and disease that plagued the city.
"Survival" DLC will feature the same main game map of fictional Manhattan but made even gloomier with the blizzard, darkness and agony. The expansion game is mainly a multiplayer survival game with 24 players going in at once.
According to a report by Kotaku, the factors of cold, hunger, thirst and disease can greatly affect the players and their strategy to achieve the main goal of the DLC, which is to reach the city center, called the Dark Zone, and get the vital antiviral drugs and other important supplies as they have run out of it in the middle of a bad blizzard.
The report notes that, according to the live stream preview by developers, players will begin the DLC with a low-level weapon and in extreme conditions of cold, hunger, thirst, and will soon acquire a disease.
Cold, if not managed correctly, will slowly kill a player. However, once a player is down he can be revived by other players or through his own efforts, but when a player is down for too long, he will be out of the game. Vanity items like scarves and coats will be available to keep the player warm.
On the other hand, hunger and thirst also have negative effects on the player and will have to be dealt with. Hunger will slow down health regeneration while thirst will give players weak sight and will lack awareness of his surroundings. As if that is not problematic enough, the game developers have removed the mini map in the "Survival" DLC.
About the disease, players can use medicine and painkillers to slow down its spread to the player's body. However, Kotaku also notes that the developers warned players that they will soon develop a resistance from the meds, meaning they will have a weaker effect on the player's body along the way.
Although the bunch of antiviral drugs is in the Dark Zone, players can spot some hidden antiviral drug along the way and finding them will provide loots that will help the players in completing the mission. Players will have two hours in the game before his character dies.
There has not been any official release date announcement, but according to some reports, the DLC will be available on Nov. 22 on Xbox One and PC.
