'Toy Story 4' Release Date News: New Movie Coming In 2017
Fans might have thought they had bid goodbye to Buzz, Woodie and Jessie after the successful showing of Pixar's "Toy Story 3' in 2010.
Just recently, however, Disney announced that another sequel to the highly popular animated film will be made and released on June 16, 2017.
The fourth instalment will be directed by John Lassete, the director of the previous "Toy Story" movies. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will once again give voices to Woody and Buzz Lightyear, respectively.
According to Disney, "Toy Story 4" will "open a new chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the Toy Story."
In a statement, Lasseter said the characters in the movie are like family to them. He added that they did not want to "do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what's gone before."
After "Toy Story 3" was shown in 2010, the director did not even think of doing another follow-up film. However, he added, "Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea. I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself."
Lasseter was referring to directors Andrew Stanton ("Finding Nemo"), Lee Unkrich ("Toy Story 3") and Pete Docter ("Up").
"Toy Story 3" earned over $1billion in sales at the global box office. Since the franchise started in 1995, Toy Story has earned over $2 billion worldwide.
Meanwhile, Pixar is to release "Inside Out" and "The Good Dinosaur" in 2015. While they did not have anything for this year, at least we have two movies to look forward to in the coming year.
