'Transformers: The Last Knight' release date, news and updates: first-look teaser to be screened during 'Rogue One' opening
The fifth installment of the "Transformers" movie franchise known as "Transformers: The Last Knight" is slated for a June 23, 2017 release, and anticipating fans will get an early preview of the upcoming movie when they watch the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" in cinemas, opening on Dec. 16.
Director Michael Bay announced through Facebook that the first teaser preview for "Transformers: The Last Knight" will be played in theaters before "Rogue One" plays out.
Some, however, speculate that the actual teaser might even come out on the Internet before "Rogue One" screenings, but many fans are hyped to see it on the cinema as nothing beats seeing big clashing metals and explosions on a big screen, complete with a digital surround sound system.
As previously confirmed, Megatron, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are returning on "Transformers: The Last Knight." Stars such as Mark Wahlberg (Cade Yeager), Stanley Tucci (Joshua Joyce) are also reprising their roles in the film franchise. They will be joined by co-stars Josh Duhamel, who plays William Lennox, Tyrese Gibson as Robert Epps, Isabela Moner as Izabella, and Anthony Hopkins in a still unnamed character.
In addition, director Bay earlier revealed through a Rolling Stone interview that this will be the last "Transformers" film for him. "I still have a great time. It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else," the director said.
Although Bay had been heard saying during the last two "Transformers" installments that those were "his last," he noted that he is aware of that but couldn't help it when J.J. Abrams tells him that he is the only one who could do the job. The director, however, added that "It's time to move on. One more."
