'Uncharted 4' DLC release date latest news: Survival Mode, multiplayer update arriving this week

Naughty Dog has announced that Survival Mode will be arriving later this week which will give "Uncharted 4" players a new cooperative and solo gameplay experience. Furthermore, the free multiplayer update will also bring in new content.

In a recent blog post, the developer revealed that they will be hosting a live stream to preview the new downloadable content (DLC) and to prepare for its arrival to the action adventure video game. The live stream will be on Twitch this Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. EST. During the event, players will also get the chance to ask questions about the Survival update.

Based on what has been revealed so far, Survival is "a wave-based mode where you and up to two additional friends can take on swards of increasingly powerful enemies and unique objectives." It will be similar to the co-op arena found in "Uncharted 2" and "Uncharted 3." However, the core gameplay experience has been enhanced with more depth and variety.

Players will encounter new enemies and bosses that can be defeated via an expansive, upgradable arsenal. There will be 50 waves and 10 maps. Every after 10 waves, there will be a boss battle. At the same time, throughout the entire mode, players will also have to accomplish objectives and collect treasures within a specific time limit. Players will earn cash which they can use to purchase weapon upgrades and new items.

Aside from the upcoming multiplayer DLC, Naughty Dog has also revealed two more updates coming next year. They will add more weapons, boosters, skins, and vanity items, among others.

Furthermore, a standalone DLC called The Lost Legacy is also in the works. It features the adventure of Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross as they try to recover an ancient Indian artifact and prevent it from landing in the hands of a ruthless war profiteer. The new DLC will Naughty Dog's most expansive story expansion to date. A release date for The Lost Legacy has yet to be announced.
