'Underworld: Blood Wars' release date, news & update: Selene proves she's not one to be trifled with in new trailer
Fans can now get a good look at the brand new supernatural warfare cooking up in "Underworld: Blood Wars" in a newly released trailer.
A new war is brewing as the Lycans rise to power once again led by Marius, who is intent on wiping out the Death Dealers including Selene, who won't give up without a fight.
The Lycans have killed a lot of Selene's kind including the ones she loved dearly, as suggested in the "Underworld: Blood Wars" trailer. They eventually find themselves in pursuit of Selene in order to complete their plan.
This begins a whole new level of warfare that Selene, knowing the knockout of a heroine she is, will not in any way allow to end with the Lycans triumphant.
As revealed in the "Underworld: Blood Wars," Selene is a bigger prize for the evil group as her blood will be the "key" to becoming invincible. By the end of the trailer, she debuts a different costume.
This brand new look seems to signify newfound strength to fight the Lycans and end them once and for all. This look is the same one she dons in the "Underworld: Blood Wars" poster released along with the trailer.
No synopsis for the film has been released yet, but the trailer definitely gives fans an idea on what to expect in the fifth installment of the franchise that began in 2003.
Media outlets point out that Beckinsale certainly has not lost her flair as the badass vampire fans fell in love with in more than a decade ago.
"Underworld: Blood Wars" is rumored to be the final movie in the franchise although nothing is set in stone yet. It could be that it will partly depend on how the movie does in the cinemas.
"Underworld: Blood Wars" will be released on Jan. 7, 2017. It will at the New York Comic-Con next month, which will mark Beckinsale's debut at the event.
