'UnReal' season 3 news 2016: Constance Zimmer gets Emmy nod, dishes on upcoming 3rd season
Many fans were disappointed when "UnReal" season 2 failed to live up to their expectations. Many felt there were so many arcs raised throughout the season, with the showrunners deciding to end all of them at once through a gruesome crime. Will the show be able to fix itself up and recover its lost glory?
Well, TV Line suggests a few tweaks to the storyline of the series in an effort to save the show's third season. For one, the outlet recommends having a female suitor this time around, a la ABC's "The Bachelorette."
Moreover, they're suggesting that Rachel (Shiri Appleby) be given a reprieve from her continuous downward spiral. Fans get that she's carrying around too much emotional and mental baggage, and seeing a few healings thrown here and there in the third season could be a breath of fresh air to the viewers.
The executive producers of the series already addressed the flak thrown at season 2, but maybe if they want to stir the same buzz season 1 did, they would do well to revamp the storyline and give the series a fresh start and a chance at something amazing.
Meanwhile, Constance Zimmer received her very first Emmy nomination for her role as Quinn King, "Everlasting's" executive producer. "Everlasting" is "UnReal's" reality-TV-show-within-a-series. Zimmer has been in and out of Emmy-caliber TV shows in the past 10 years, but according to The Daily Beast (TDB), it took a series like "UnReal" for the jurors to notice the actress.
Zimmer will be competing against "Downton Abbey's" Maggie Smith, "The Affair's" Maura Tierney, and three badass women from HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones" in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category.
"It still is completely surreal," she tells TDB more than a month after learning she has been nominated. "It's that thing that I think you always wish for or would like to have in your career. It really winded me in a way I wasn't expecting."
When asked what people should expect from the third season of "UnReal," she says, "I really have no idea. I don't know what they have planned for us next season."
"The only thing I'm hoping for is I want Rachel and Quinn, in Season Three, to come out of the gate together, as a team," she adds. "I definitely prefer when they're on the same team than when they're butting heads."
There is no official premiere date yet for "UnReal" season 3, so keep coming back for more news and updates regarding the upcoming installment.
