'Veep' season 6 spoilers news: Selina adjusts to civilian life; Electoral fraud could land her back in the White House?
When the political satire comedy series "Veep" wrapped up its season 5 in June, viewers saw ex-president Selina Meyer somewhat blindsided. With the series given a go-ahead for the sixth season, people would soon find out how she is adjusting to civilian life, if she is even capable.
Selina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) was positive that her assumed successor, Senator Tom James (Hugh Laurie) would win the presidential race so she acquiesced when he offered her to be his vice president. Dismayed though she may be, Selina was willing to re-live such a chapter in her life once again if only to have more time to continue with her project in liberating Tibet from the Chinese.
However, the twist of all twists happened and Senator James lost against Senator Laura Montez (Andrea Savage). As a result, Selina was totally kicked out of the White House. Worse, the winning president claimed credit for Selina's Tibet undertaking.
In the upcoming season, viewers will see how she adjusts to civilian life with the stigma of being one of the most ineffective presidents of America hounding her. Not all hope is lost for Selina, though, if what Bustle recently teased proves true.
According to the publication, Selina could be on her way back to the White House because of purported electoral fraud. Bustle said the credits of the season 5 finale somehow hinted that there was cheating during the election, and this could be one of the story arcs for the upcoming season.
It seems that Bob Bradley (Martin Mull) would uncover the missing Nevada ballots that have since been retrieved, thereby exposing the alleged cheating.
Nevertheless, in an interview with Deadline, showrunner David Mandel said that if that arc pushes through, it wouldn't be happening in the first few episodes of "Veep" season 6. What's certain, though, is that Selina's life outside the White House will greatly be explored in the upcoming season.
Mandel also hinted that Selina might not enjoy the usual benefits or privileges afforded former presidents such as a 24-hour secret service guard. So it definitely looks like Selina would figure life as a civilian the ward way.
Fans of the show would find out soon enough what happens next to Selina. Nevertheless, they have to stay tuned and wait for an official announcement from HBO regarding the premiere date of "Veep" season 6.
