'Vikings' season 4 episode 11 spoilers: Midseason premiere features Ragnar, Ivar teaming up; Lagertha's new lover is a woman?
After an extended hiatus, the much anticipated second half of the historical drama "Vikings" is finally back this week with 10 more episodes on deck. The first episode will feature father-and-son bonding between two of history's more famous Viking leaders.
In the midseason premiere titled "The Outsider" Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) will find himself in a rather lonely situation when the people who have once stood by him as his closest allies will now refuse him in favor of their own personal plans. It is only after he has exhausted all of his known options will he find an unexpected companion in the person of his malformed son, Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen).
According to an advance preview on Spoiler TV, the episode will be picking up right where the midseason finale left off, with Ragnar arriving back at Kattegat and challenging anyone who would dare take away his rights as king.
He later announces his plan to sail back to Wessex to atone for past wrongdoings, but is refused company by the three sons he hoped to take with him. Even his friends all seem to have moved on from a life of aiding him on his quests. It is at this point of desperation that the gods finally bring him together with Ivar, who will be the one accompanying him back on a mission to see King Ecbert of Wessex (Linus Roache).
The back half of "Vikings" season 4 will reportedly also feature a new lover for shield-maiden and earl, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick). In a phone interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Michael Hirst shared that the upcoming episodes will find Lagertha in a relationship with a younger woman named Astrid (Josefin Asplund).
"She's in a relationship with someone she feels more comfortable with," Hirst said. "Someone she feels she might be able to trust, and it's a woman," he added.
"Vikings" season 4 episode 11 airs on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 9 p.m. EST on History.
