'Vikings' season 4 episode 12 spoilers: Aslaug sees trouble ahead with Ragnar's upcoming trip

"Vikings" season 4 successfully came back for the latter part of the story arc with Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) trying to make up for lost time. He then asks for his family and friend's help to push forward with a new mission to England to finally have a face to face with King Ecbert (Linus Roache). Moving forward tonight, the returning ruler continues to struggle to put up a team for his latest endeavor.

Things are still not going according to Ragnar's way as the Kattegat locals berate him for being deserted by the gods. The synopsis for the episode titled "The Vision" suggests that the current struggles are only the tip of a bigger iceberg in terms of the supposed voyage, with Ragnar having to make do with subpar equipment. He takes in weathered boats and bribed a crew that does not seem to be very devoted to his cause to accompany him on the trip.

It takes a more serious turn when Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) foresees a disaster occurring during the long trip that his husband is going to make. While this is not a confirmation of the said events, her previous history of having visions regarding Ragnar and his rule having some ground to it may be a cause of concern for him to sail on the high seas.

The brand-new arc that "Vikings" is treading this current season establishes a more earthy narrative in terms of how things have changed over the course of the time jump. And creator Michael Hirst is fully embracing both the advantages and disadvantages of taking the show at a creatively better place without losing its link to real-life events.

"Vikings is a study of people and societies in change, underpinned by this conflict between pagan and Christian religions. It's a very volatile, very changeable world. We've come a long way from when we first saw Ragnar as a farmer, he told Entertainment Weekly in an interview referring to how the power struggle, social structure, and overall dynamic has evolved over the years.
