'Vikings' season 4 episode 14 spoilers: Ragnar negotiates with King Ecbert; Aslaug and Lagertha get involved in a heated confrontation
Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) comes up with an unexpectedly brilliant plan on the upcoming episode of History's hit series "Vikings" season 4.
According to spoiler reports, next week's episode will see Ragnar attempt to negotiate with King Ecbert (Linus Roache) after he was captured by the king's men. Meanwhile, Ragnar's ex-wife and current wife get involved in a confrontation when Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) talks to Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) to fulfill one of her longtime ambitions.
The previous episode left off with Ragnar and Ivar (Alex Høgh) surviving a shipwreck with only a few of their men. Although some of the Vikings blamed Ragnar for the incident, he'd always tell his son that he has a plan. Towards the end of the episode, Ragnar and Ivar slashed the other Vikings' throats while they were sleeping and eventually gave themselves up to the king.
In the promo clip for episode 14, Ragnar appears to be inside a cage while King Ecbert asks him: "Why have you taken so long to return?" Ragnar insists that it's all part of his bigger plan, but King Ecbert thinks there's something fishy about Ragnar's strategy. The next scene shows King Ecbert calling Ragnar "the most dangerous man on this earth" as he lets him out of the cage.
To give viewers an idea of what's to come, the official synopsis for episode 14 reads: "Lagertha attempts to fulfill a long-held ambition; Ragnar negotiates an unexpected concession from King Ecbert."
The back half of season 4 will see Ivar join his father on his journey, but it will be a huge challenge for both of them because Ivar is a cripple. Winning battles may be tough for Ivar because of his physical limitations, but Høgh believes his character can still do something to help Ragnar.
"I can't really reveal anything, but because Ivar is so intelligent, he's going to be a great military strategist," the actor hinted. "Of course, we'll never see him on the battlefield slaying Christians, but trust me, he'll find his own way to do it. He'll be the one standing on the hill organizing, which is also pretty cool, I have to say," he added.
The fourth season of "Vikings" airs every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET on History.
