Season 4 will see the return of King Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) after being defeated by his brother Rollo (Clive Standen) and the Parisians. Upon reaching Kattegat, he will realize how his defeat left his people demoralized and how they have lost faith in their king. He will eventually confront his sons and the rest of the villagers, daring them to kill him and take the throne from him. All of Ragnar's sons clearly want to claim the Danish throne but there are speculations that Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen) will have the best chance of being the King of Kattegat due to his beastly strength.

Rumor has it that Ragnar will soon die in the series which is why he has to be replaced by one of his sons who are already in the right age. Despite their father's absence, Ivar remains as the only son who has faith in his father which might bring him closer to being Ragnar's heir. The show will certainly shift the focus towards the brothers, shedding light on how far they will go to claim the power.

In an interview, Ivar's portrayer, Alex Høgh Andersen shared what sets his character apart from his older brothers. "The thing is, Ragnar is incredibly intelligent," he told IGN back in April. "It doesn't take him that much time before he realizes that, because of the crippled Ivar, because of the past and because of his entire life as a cripple in an environment that does not embrace it, he's the toughest one of them all." The other three actors who play Ivar's brothers agree, saying how he is the "most Viking" among the siblings.

"Even though he's the younger brother, we would look up to him for the Viking he is and how strong-willed he is," Ubbe's portrayer, Jordan Patrick Smith said. "He has one of the biggest disabilities you can have as a Viking where you can't walk, but he's still smart enough and strong enough to keep going."

The last 10 episodes of "Vikings" season 4 will air this Fall on History network.
