Wash. Satanic Temple Protests 'In God We Trust' Sign

The Satanic Temple in Seattle, Washington is reportedly protesting the decision to erect an "In God We Trust" sign at a public building in nearby Vancouver, Washington.

Seattle's Satanic Temple is reportedly protesting the placement of an "In God We Trust" sign at the Clark County public hearing room in Vancouver, Washington. The sign was reportedly donated to the public building by a local nonprofit group.

The Satanist group has reportedly threatened to demand that its own sign be placed next to the "In God We Trust" sign if the public building goes through with allowing the nonprofit group's message.

"We see Satan as our symbol of the rebel against tyranny," Lillith Starr, founder of the Satanic Temple's Seattle chapter, told KING 5 News.

According to the King 5 News station, if the city of Vancouver ends up allowing the "In God We Trust" sign, the Satanic Temple hopes Vancouver will also agree to place another sign at the public hearing room, one that reads: "E Pluribus Unum," meaning "From the Many, One."

The manager of Clark County, which oversees Vancouver, recently told OPB News that the issue over the "In God We Trust" sign is closed, adding that the city is simply sticking with the nation's national motto and does not plan to involve any other religions into the sign issue.

"The issue is pretty much closed," Acting Clark County Manager Mark McCauley told OPB News. "We have one national motto. We're not considering putting any others up in our county building."
