'Watch Dogs 2' release date, news and updates: Ubisoft starts to address online multiplayer glitches
After over a week since the official release of "Watch Dogs 2" on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Ubisoft might have come up with a solution to the inaccessible online multiplayer mode.
Ubisoft closed down that online multiplayer mode since day one of release because of glitches. According to a statement, the game has a huge possibility to crash periodically. So they decided, "In order to eliminate that issue at launch and for players to enjoy a smooth game play experience, we have decided to wait to launch the seamless multiplayer feature so it would not impact the core gameplay experience."
However, since Tuesday, Ubisoft has rolled out two phases of updates for a seamless multiplayer mode. Last Nov. 22, the developers announced, "Phase 1 of Seamless Multiplayer for Xbox One has now been activated with the approval of Title Update 1.05, now available for download."
After the first phase went live, players are now allowed to access the online multiplayer game and its features such as inviting friends or searching for players in a co-op game, hacking an enemy and going on Bounty Hunts.
The following day, the second phase of the update went live. The Phase 2 of the seamless multiplayer update enabled the features like a seamless Bounty Hunts without the Multiplayer App, seamless Hacking Invasions, seamless DedSec events and seamless co-op mission invitations.
Ubisoft promised to continue working on the multiplayer mode saying, "Though seamless online activities are working well, we are continuing to work on making searching for activities through the multiplayer app more reliable, and will continue to monitor online performance."
"Watch Dogs 2" features the story of Marcus Holloway — a hacker who is part of a group DedSec. One of their mission is to take down the ctOS 2.0 or the Central Operating System of the city as it is illegally invading the privacy of civilians.
The game has experienced lower sales compared with its predecessor, but developers are positive that the stats will be better in the coming weeks.
"Watch Dogs 2" is yet to be released on PC on Nov. 29.
