'Wentworth' season 5 updates: Did Bea survive?
The end of the fourth season of "Wentworth" had Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack) stabbed and numerous fans have been speculating on whether the next season will find her alive or dead.
According to Game N Guide, the executive producer of "Wentworth," Jo Porter, has confirmed that Bea is indeed dead and will not be coming back. Cormack has been on the show since day one, and her death could come out as a nasty surprise for fans of "Wentworth." Previous reports have gone out, claiming that the producers were reaching a hard time when it came to the decision of killing off Bea.
Some fans, however, choose to remain optimistic about Bea's fate and pass Porter's statements as a form of misdirection. Showrunners are known to do these kinds of things to shock fans. But after the backlash that JJ Abrams received after lying about the identity of Benedict Cumberbatch's character in "Star Trek: Into Darkness," it would be wise not to piss the fans off with wrong information.
Some even said that they shouldn't care about the conditions of Bea's survival as long as they could get more of her when season 5 kicks in. A good guess is that season 5 will open with Bea recuperating in the hospital. But then again, fans could find Bea in the hospital in the form of a corpse on a morgue table.
The "ambiguous death" cliffhanger is a common trope in television dramas that keeps fans hooked until the next season kicks in. Season 5 of HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones" had Jon Snow (Kit Harington) stabbed to death and brought back to life in the next season. But seeing as there's no magical red woman in "Wentworth" to bring Bea back, fans may have just seen the last of Daniell Cormack in the show.
"Wentworth" season 5 will possibly arrive in 2017.
