A lot of fans of the "Song of Ice and Fire" has been growing very impatient with the release of the sixth book, "Winds of Winter." The readers have been questioning the author of the series, George R.R. Martin as to why the release of the sixth installment is taking so long.

Rumors are circulating online that the release of "Winds of Winter" may be before the airing of the seventh season of "Game of Thrones. There is still no confirmation about this from the publisher or even from the publisher himself. Other sources have mentioned that the upcoming book will be delayed again. This is due to how slow the author writes, and Martin is not afraid to admit that.

There are also speculations that the seventh season will actually be based on the content of "Winds of Winter." However, the author has been responsive to fans on his blog and he has recently mentioned that he will update it as soon as possible when there is already a release date. The author has mentioned in his blog, "Look, I have always had problems with deadlines. For whatever reason, I don't respond well to them,"

Martin also continued saying in his blog to just enjoy the show and the books while "Winds of Winter" has yet to be released. He said, "Meanwhile, I'll keep writing. Chapter at a time. Page at a time. Word at a time. That's all I know how to do."

Furthermore, it is speculated that there will be a union between the two powerful houses in the next book which are the Targaryen and the Starks. However, this may be soon avoided since it is the main objective of the White Walkers to stop this union.

There is no definite release date yet for the "Winds of Winter," but it may possibly be launched in 2017.
