"X-Men: Apocalypse" was a box office success for Fox, and the end credits scene teased the arrival of another villain in the franchise, Mr. Sinister. Though fans were expecting Sinister to appear in the next "X-Men" ensemble movie, director Bryan Singer has revealed that he will have a presence in the upcoming "Wolverine 3."

The information came from the audio commentary featuring Simon Kinberg and Singer that was attached to the digital release of "X-Men: Apocalypse." They discussed that the original teaser they planned to shoot was for the "Deadpool" sequel but they ultimately had to scrap it. The choice to include the Essex Corps. was done to tease the third Wolverine solo movie.

Cinema Blend speculated that though Sinister is considered to be one of the bigger villains in the X-men Universe, that may not necessarily mean that he will be the main antagonist in "Wolverine 3."

Mr. Sinister aka Nathaniel Essex actually has close ties with the most recent X-men villain, Apocalypse. He was originally a Victorian-era scientist who wanted to study more on the evolutionary phenomenon that was the mutants, and it led him to conduct experiments which were outside the laws of human decency.

He became an outcast for his crimes which led him to come across Apocalypse. He was then granted powers that gave him control over every cell in his body, making him virtually immortal. Thus, Nathaniel Essex disappeared and he was replaced by Mr. Sinister.

Since the post credits scene showed his company taking samples of Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) blood, some have speculated that these will be used to create a clone of the mutant, eventually leading to the creation of X-23, Wolverine's female clone. X-23 has all of Logan's powers. She has tandem claws that come out of her hands, as well as a retractable talon on each foot.

"Wolverine 3" is set to come out March 3, 2017.
