'Wonder Woman' news, updates: Gal Gadot stays on top of her game through workout routine
Gal Gadot's character was introduced in what some have labeled as an ill-fated DC movie, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and soon, she would get to star in her own movie. While not much is being given away in terms of spoilers, fans are hoping Gadot would give justice to her titular character, "Wonder Woman."
Just recently, Gadot posted a picture on Twitter, showing her immersed in an intense boxing workout. It was actually part of her preparation for the "Justice League" movie wherein Wonder Woman would be appearing alongside other superheroes, but the Israeli actress was introduced to that workout to prepare her for her role as Diana Prince, a.k.a. Wonder Woman.
According to Comicbook.com, strength coach Mark Twight worked with the model-turned-actress to add more weight to her slim 5'10 frame. Twight was also the one who turned Henry Cavill's body into the well-sculpted physique of the Man of Steel.
Muscle & Fitness magazine did a feature on the training for the "Batman v Superman" stars, and in it, Twight said it wasn't easy to convince the stars to comply with radical changes to their bodies.
"We took it in incremental steps. We went from a model to a high jumper, in terms of an athletic look. And then once she was comfortable with that, then we'd go a little bit further," he explained (via henrycavill), sharing how he was able to talk Gadot into the routine.
Since her training for "Batman v Superman," Gadot has continued on, adding even more muscles for solo starrer "Wonder Woman" and her "Justice League" appearance. It's obvious from the photo posted above that Gadot is determined to continue her routine to stay in peak physical condition.
The results of her workout are evidently seen in her toned arms, and apparently, aside from being a good way to stay lean, boxing is one of the best exercises to improve her speed and reflexes. Gadot needs to stay on top of her game as she preps for her superhero role, and it looks like her efforts are paying off.
"Wonder Woman," which stars Gadot, Chris Pine, and Connie Nielsen, is hitting theaters on June 2, 2017. In the meantime, check out the film's trailer that was unveiled in the recent San Diego Comic-Con.
