World's Slimmest Smartphone: Vivo Device 3.8-MM Thick
The new iPhones have proven that thin devices are still a priority for many people.
The same is true for the new Oppo R5, which currently holds the title "slimmest smartphone in the world," measuring just 4.85mm thick.
However, this phone may not hold that title for too long as Vivo has released a teaser on manufacturing the slimmest smartphone in the world.
A few days ago, Vivo posted on its social media account a few photos of an unnamed smartphone, which claims to be "half the iPhone 5/5s." The iPhone 5 being 7.6mm thick, the new phone could measure roughly 3.8 mm, which is approximately 1 mm thinner than the Oppo R5. A phone this thin is truly mind boggling.
As for the release date, no official announcement from Vivo has been made yet. It is unclear whether the company is already in production or is still dreaming of the thin phone. Should a smartphone this thin become possible, the next challenge to take is to fit all its components in the phone.
Meanwhile, the recently released iPhone 6 Plus has been a subject of controversy because of a smartphone reviewer who succeeded in bending the device using his hands. Although a thin phone is an achievement in the engineering aspect, the question arises: Does a phone that's too thin have any advantage compared to those that are twice as thick?
Aside from the thinness, no product specifications have been revealed about the smartphone.
