'X-Men: Apocalypse' opens strong in its international release; What will the post-credits details entail for the mutants' future?

The answers to what is in the much touted post-credits are finally unlocked. Fans from selected parts of the world have finally gone to see the widely cited post-credits of "X-Men: Apocalypse" and are now in guesswork of what to make of it. Meanwhile, the ninth "X-Men" movie so far has scored big in its international debut.

The Indian Express reported that on its opening day in India, "X-Men: Apocalypse" raked Rs. 4.51 cr. or more than $40 million, thus dominating Bollywood and surpassing its local films in terms of ticket sales.

On a tangent, it can be recalled in his interview with Collider that "X-Men: Apocalypse" writer and co-producer Simon Kinberg hinted at potential appearances at the end of the film which he said could usher to different other "X-Men" movies. And while on a press tour for the movie, director Bryan Singer talked to Heyuguys about the post-credits scene and said, "We've got a concept that we really wanted and it's a nice little set up for ... something."

Fans ask what this "something" might be.

The post-credits that last about 90 seconds begin in the ruins of Stryker's Weapon X base which is a facility that is instantly recognizable. Later on Wolverine takes a container of blood with the label "Weapon X" and places it in a briefcase side by side other colored containers. The top of the briefcase displayed a logo that read "Essex Corp."

The publication explains that "Essex" refers to Nathaniel Essex or Mister Sinister who is one of the most formidable villains of the "X-Men" universe. In the comics, he is responsible for awakening Apocalypse and is granted agelessness by Apocalypse himself. Essex has telekinesis abilities, and the powers of shape-shifting and regeneration. This reportedly makes him a union of the major "X-Men" characters, and hence an ideal villain for any upcoming "X-Men" movies.

The Independent further adds that the sight of Wolverine's blood vial can be hinting at the rumored introduction of the character's female clone, X-23, in Wolverine 3. Or it can be a prelude to a Gambit movie who previously spent his days as a skilled thief under the employment of Mister Sinister.

Alternatively, the next "X-Men" movie can after all be about Jean Grey so that when asked by The Entertainment Weekly about it, Kinberg teased, "I definitely would love to take another stab at the Dark Phoenix story."

The IMDb lists the schedule of the international release of "X-Men: Apocalypse." The ninth movie installment of the "X-Men" franchise is set to debut in the U.S. on Friday, May 27.
