The Xbox One Backward Compatibility program has hit a major milestone with 300 games already available via the service. And Microsoft made sure that the last few titles joining the party are no pushovers as the "BioShock" franchise is now live via the subscription feature.

The loot includes "BioShock 1," "BioShock 2" and "BioShock Infinite" to the delight of many Xbox One users as they are now able to immerse themselves in the series just in time for the holidays. As usual, the news was announced by Larry Hryb, also known as Major Nelson in the online community via his social media platforms. But since the release is quite special for Microsoft, some other company executives took the time to address the celebration like Aaron Greenberg, the head of Xbox Games Marketing who took it to his Twitter to share the treats.

Phil Spencer also took it to his Twitter for the same reason. But the head of the Xbox group also shared some great news to the community revealing that almost half of Xbox One owners already dove in the Backward Compatibility library to try new titles. And with the triple surprise of the "BioShock" bundle, fans can only expect more titles to continue coming in the years ahead.

The debut iteration of the game first came out in 2007, which tackles the story of main protagonist Jack in the 1960s. In the gameplay, players take on the role of the lead character as he works his way through Rapture, which happens to be an underwater city. "BioShock" was received well both by players and critics with special mentions of its immersive quality and political story incorporation.

Due to the franchise's successful launch, "BioShock 2" was released in 2010 as a direct sequel. This time, however, Subject Delta takes center stage as the protagonist tries to dig through his origins. Like its predecessor, it was also met with positive reviews prompting for a third installment called, "BioShock Infinite." The threequel transports players further down history in 1912 Columbia with a new hero, agent Booker DeWitt, as he locates a young woman named Elizabeth. Despite not being an immediate part of the storyline of the franchise, it has similar game features and storylines which still makes it feel like a "BioShock" title. Like the first two installments of the series, the trilogy capper was praised across the gaming community citing its unique and yet still familiar feeling narrative.
