June 2016 marks the third year of Microsoft's Games with Gold program, and the company is giving away four games for free for a specific period in celebration of the program's anniversary. These four games include "Goat Simulator," "The Crew," "Super Meat Boy" and "XCOM: Enemy Unknown."

"Goat Simulator" will be available for download from June 1 to 30. It is an action video game developed and published by Coffee Stain Studios wherein the player can explore the game's suburban world as a goat. He can run, jump, dent, smash and whack things around. The aim of doing so is for the goat to cause as much trouble and damage in the open world map. Beyond this, there is no other greater objective to get at. "Goat Simulator," if not listed under Xbox free games, is to sell at $9.99.

"The Crew," an open-world racing video game, can be downloaded from June 16 to July 15. In "The Crew" the player needs to be on constant internet connectivity in order to play, which is a downside to the game and one of its criticisms. "The Crew" sells at $29.99.

Another game to be offered for free in June's Games with Gold program is "Super Meat Boy." It will be available for download for a limited two-week period only, particularly June 1 to June 15. Some subscribers say that the offering of "Super Meat Boy" is a winning bargain from the list of the upcoming Games with Gold in the following month. The platform game is reportedly one of the best from the Xbox Live Arcade era wherein gamers are actually set to experience gaming on a very difficult platform.

"Super Meat Boy" which has proven to be addictive is commended for its precise controls. In Game Rant's comprehensive review of "Super Meat Boy," the site talks highly of the game, calling it "near perfect in everything it tries to be" and "so much more than just a platformer." It normally sells at its regular $14.99 price.

The fourth free Xbox 360 game is "XCOM: Enemy Unknown." The turn-based strategy video game can be downloaded in the remaining half of the month, June 16 to 30. In this tactical game, the player takes on the difficult role of maneuvering a military squad with the end goal of defending the world against extraterrestrial invasion. The game is sold at $29.99.

These Games with Gold titles will be free for Xbox users with active Xbox Live Gold subscription and even regular subscription. After purchase, gamers will own the Xbox 360 games for a lifetime regardless of the expiration of the subscription.

It should be noted that all 360 Games with Gold releases have Xbox 360 backward compatibility and that they can be bought from the Xbox One store.
