Xbox Games With Gold January 2017 free games list includes 'Deathtrap,' 'Killer Instinct Season 2'
Four new titles will be offered for free for those who signed up for Xbox Live Games with Gold subscriptions for January 2017.
PC Mag officially revealed the list of games that will be released free for Xbox One and Xbox 360 players who purchased the Xbox Live Gold subscription. Two titles will be released exclusively for Xbox One platform, while the other two titles will be available for Xbox 360.
One of the games that are coming out for Xbox one is NeoCore Games' tower-defense game, "World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap." The game that was normally priced at $19.99 will be available for free for the entire month of January.
On the other hand, the "Killer Instinct Season 2 Ultra Edition" that was released by Microsoft Studios will also be offered for free starting Jan. 16 but it will be removed from the lineup on Feb. 15.
Meanwhile, the 2013 puzzle-platformer adventure game from Double Fine Productions called The Cave will be available for Xbox 360 players for free for the entire month of January, while Rayman Origins from Ubisoft Montpellier will be offered on Jan. 16 until Jan. 31. However, both games can also be played on Xbox One under Microsoft's backward compatibility program.
In another news, Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed that he has high hopes for the Xbox One backward compatibility lineup for the month of January in 2017.
According to Spencer, there is a good chance for subscribers to see a lot of exciting game titles coming up at the start of the year.
"Back compat was good as it brought a bunch of nostalgia back without all the games needing to be redone or rebought," Spencer said in an interview that was published by Express UK. "I love that [backwards compatibility] is bringing great games to people who didn't get to play on 360."
More backward-compatible titles are expected to be announced soon.
