Xbox Games with Gold January 2017 free games list rumors: 'Watch Dogs,' 'Resident Evil,' and 'Sniper Elite V2' anticipated to be offered
The year has ended with four great titles given away by Microsoft for their Xbox Games with Gold players. Games with Gold for the upcoming new year are already being speculated, and among these rumored titles are "Watch Dogs," "Resident Evil," and "Sniper Elite V2."
Similar to PlayStation Plus, Microsoft gives away free games for their Xbox Live Gold members. Each month, two games are made freely available for both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360. But each game is only free for a span of two weeks, and gamers must complete their free purchase of the title within that time.
This December, Microsoft made "Burnout Paradise and "Outland" free for Xbox 360, while "Outlast" and "Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition" were offered for Xbox One.
For January 2017, there have been no announcements yet to what Xbox Live Gold gamers can expect to have for free, but there are already predictions and speculations to what these titles might be.
According to This Gen Gaming, the expected titles that will be made free for Xbox One are "Watch Dogs" and "Resident Evil." For Xbox 360, they are anticipated to be "Sniper Elite V2" and "Assassin's Creed 3."
"Watch Dogs" is a third person open world action-adventure video game where the player will play a hacker named Aiden Pearce, who seeks revenge on the people who killed his niece. Although it is open world, "Watch Dogs" features linear missions where the player can progress throughout the game's story.
"Resident Evil" is expected to be among the Games with Gold because "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" will be showing in 2017. Although the plot of the film is different from the game series, it might be a good promotional tactic to get gamers on board with the movie. The same is expected with "Assassin's Creed 3," since a movie also from the franchise is slated for an early 2017 release.
Meanwhile, "Sniper Elite" is expected to have a new installment in its franchise, and making "Sniper Elite V2" free for Xbox Live gamers will be a good refresh before it comes out.
