Xbox One Backward Compatibility games list update: 'Alice Madness Returns' joins catalog
For its latest effort to expand the Xbox One Backward Compatibility games list, Microsoft brings in the psychological horror action-adventure video game, "Alice: Madness Returns."
Developed by the Chinese studio Spicy Horse and published by Electronic Arts (EA), the latest Xbox One Backward Compatibility offering has received praises and high ratings from gamers since its release to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2011.
"Alice: Madness Returns" follows the titular character as she attempts to save Wonderland and herself from the madness that is both consuming them.
The Xbox One Backward Compatibility game takes place 11 years after Alice lost her family and her home, which left her scarred for life that she had to be confined to Rutledge Asylum.
"Now, after ten years, she has finally secured her release — yet she still bears the heavy psychological burden of that tragic event," the game's description reads.
Alice turns to Wonderland for refuge, but finds that her safe haven has been engulfed by the same evil that corrupted her mind and it is only her that could bring everything back in place.
Thanks to its addition to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility catalog, those who rock the current-generation console can now play "Alice: Madness Returns" and experience the "intense third person action" and interactive puzzles it has to offer.
Players can obtain magical abilities and use and upgrade weapons as they fight off the bad guys and encounter even more crazed versions of familiar faces like the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, the Caterpillar and the Red Queen.
Those who have a copy of the original "Alice: Madness Returns" should see the game show up automatically on the Xbox One game library.
Players who do not have it, but hopes to pick up the Xbox One Backward Compatibility game will have to shell out $20. The game should take up 5.41 GB of space.
