Xbox Project Scorpio release date news update: Powerful console could be last Xbox ever released

The forthcoming release of the highly anticipated console from Microsoft called Project Scorpio has gotten a lot of attention amongst video gamers across the world. Now, it has gotten more interesting after reports emerged all over the Internet saying that the next gaming system will be the last generation console from Microsoft.

During his recent interview with Engadget, Microsoft's Xbox head of games marketing Aaron Greenberg said that Project Scorpio will be the last Xbox console to be released. It doesn't necessarily mean that the company will stop manufacturing gaming systems because it will still do; however, it will use a different approach in their future console productions after Project Scorpio.

It was previously reported earlier this year that Microsoft might develop their future consoles more like PCs with better graphics technology.

"You look at improvements in graphics capability, you look at improvements in display, you look at things like 4K and HDR," Microsoft's Xbox head Phil Spencer said.

The main goal of Xbox is to make sure players are not forced to leave their gaming library obsolete when a new console that is better and faster gets released.

"We can effectively feel a little more like what we see on PC, where I can still go back and run my old Doom and Quake games that I ran so many years ago and still see the best new 4K games come out—and my whole library is always with me," Spencer added.

Meanwhile, there is no question that gaming fans are excited for Project Scorpio to arrive. According to CNET, the new gaming console is 4.5 times better than the current Xbox One in terms of power and speed. According to Microsoft, the device can run games that require higher definition at 4K resolution at an amazing 60fps. However, Spencer already said that Project Scorpio will be best experienced when paired with 4K TV.
