Xbox Scorpio specs, release date: PS4 Pro to do better in market as per new reports
Now that the PlayStation 4 Pro has been unveiled, the official console war has begun. However, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President Andrew House would like to point out that it is not after the Xbox Scorpio.
Speaking to The Guardian, House explained that the idea of the PS4 was born out of some data that got him thinking about the personal computer (PC ) gaming.
"It suggested that there's a dip mid-console life cycle where the players who want the very best graphical experience will start to migrate to PC because that's obviously where it's to be had," he explained.
"We wanted to keep those people within our ecosystem by giving them the very best and very highest [performance quality]. So the net result of those thoughts was PlayStation 4 Pro—and, by and large, a graphical approach to game improvement," House continued.
Despite this concept, this would not stop users from comparing the PS4 Pro with the Xbox Scorpio. On paper, the latter is more powerful at 6 teraflops as compared to the former's 4.2 teraflops.
"The performance delta will be obvious," Xbox senior director of product management and planning Albert Penello told Polygon.
The Xbox Scorpio won't see the light of day until next year, while PS4 Pro will be released in November. This alone, according to Twinfinite, will affect the performance of the latter in terms of sales.
The site believes that with the PS4 Pro landing much earlier than the Xbox Scorpio, it will get much of the thunder. The latter is still a long ways off. Even those willing to play the waiting game will have to prepare for a long one.
The site also believes that Microsoft being the first to announce a new console but Sony overtaking it in terms of an actual release will also affect how Scorpio does in the market.
Speaking about their decision to announce the console early, Penello said, "We announced this year to give developers more time to familiarize themselves with the hardware."
The PS4 Pro will be available this November with an impressive catalog including "Watch Dogs 2" and even "Final Fantasy 15." Xbox Scorpio will be out holiday next year.
