Xiaomi Mi 6 release date: comes out ahead of Galaxy S8, LG G6; premium model boasts curved OLED display
Xiaomi has been on top of its game following the release of its most recent gadgets. With the news that Samsung is releasing its Galaxy S8, and Apple is already developing the iPhone 8, Xiaomi is prepared to compete with its Xiaomi Mi 6.
The Chinese phone manufacturer will not back down from the recent technology that the top brands are offering. The upcoming Xiaomi has one model that boasts an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) curved display, which was first seen in Samsung's Galaxy Edge lineup. There is another variant with a flat display as a baseline model.
The great thing about the Xiaomi Mi 6 is that it is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system on chip (SoC), which was first introduced at the recently held Consumer Electronics Show (CES). According to the latest leak, the device is currently being mass produced and the progress is just right on time because the Snapdragon 835 is also being manufactured and seemingly on schedule.
It was previously reported that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be delayed due to issues in obtaining the chipsets. Now, it is expected that the device will come out earlier than the anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8, even the LG G6 that also has promising features of having an all-glass design.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 is currently enjoying an increased hype due to the benchmarking result that showed it scoring an impressive 2,10,329, which no phone has ever achieved yet. The high score has been linked to the Snapdragon 835 chipset.
As for the upcoming handset's specs and features, it is rumored that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will have 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) for its flat-screen variant and 6 GB RAM for the curved-display one. Both variants have dual camera features, in which the rear camera is capable of taking 4K videos.
The device may also be packed with a powerful 4,000mAh battery, coupled with a Quick Charge Technology and a USB Type-C port.
