Xiaomi Mi Note 2 news, specs, release date: Xiaomi introduces latest high-end smartphone unit

Xiaomi recently launched their latest smartphone unit, the Mi Note 2, during their company event in Beijing. The highly anticipated smartphone is expected to be a top-tier phone model, which will compete with the latest iPhone S unit, the Samsung Galaxy S series, and the Google Pixel.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has a curved display, similar to Samsung's premium cellphone units. The device features curved glass on its front and rear sides. The latest Xiaomi smartphones feature the best of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology to make its curved design a possibility.

The Mi Note 2 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, which can run at 2.35 GHz. With the Snapdragon 821 processor, the device is expected to be faster than the Samsung Note 7, which is powered by the Snapdragon 820 capable of running at 2.15 GHz.

The Mi Note 2 has a long battery life, with 4,070 mAh battery. It is also equipped with fast charging 3.0 technology.

The premium Mi Note 2 smartphone has a massive storage capacity of 128 GB. Meanwhile, the device runs with a 6 GB RAM capacity. Reports say the device most likely costs $639.99. A cheaper alternative is also going to be available in the market, but its storage capacity won't be as much as the high-end unit. The second variant has a 64-GB storage capacity with 4 GB of RAM. This device probably costs $549.99, reports say.

Moreover, Xiaomi is going to launch a special unit which supports 37 4G LTE bands. Reports say that this special model costs $515.

The Mi Note 2 has two color variants available, the Piano Black and the Glacier Silver. However, these won't be available for another three weeks. Tech enthusiasts from the U.S. won't be able to buy the phone in the stores, but the device can always be purchased from online retailers.
