With the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 over a year old already, many are expecting the arrival of its successor. While the Chinese electronics company has yet to make an official announcement, leaked promotional materials for the Mi Pad 3 suggest its imminent arrival.

According to the leaked presentation slides (via GizmoChina), the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 will feature a 9.7-inch display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and a pixel density of 264 pixels per inch. In terms of dimensions, the upcoming tablet is 239.5 x 164.5 x 6.08 mm and weighs 308 grams. The Mi Pad 3's display is bigger than the 7.9-inch screen of its predecessors. While it is thinner, the all-metal tablet is heavier this time around. Also, in terms of display resolution and size, Xiaomi's newest tablet is very similar to the Apple iPad Pro 9.7.

The Mi Pad 3 will be powered by the Intel seventh-generation Core m3-7Y30 processor and the Intel HD Graphics 615 graphics card. There will be 8 GB of random access memory (RAM) and either 128 GB or 256 GB of internal storage.

The tablet will also reportedly be equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.

Other notable features include the Windows 10 operating system which comes preinstalled with Microsoft Office Suite and Cortana. The leaked slides made no mention of an Android-powered variant. Customers can also look forward to a more secure device due to the presence of a fingerprint scanner.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 comes with a 8,290 mAh battery and USB Type-C port with Quick Charge 3.0 capability.

The 128 GB model is said to cost CNY 1,999 which is about $289. Meanwhile, the 256 GB model is priced at CNY 2,299 or about $332. The Mi Pad 3 is also compatible with a keyboard dock which will be sold separately for CNY 99 or around $14.

Despite there being no official announcement from Xiaomi, the Mi Pad 3 is rumored to launch on Dec. 30.
