Xiaomi Redmi 4 release date news 2016: Fourth gen smartphone carries better processor
Xiaomi's Redmi 3 has gotten commercial success after its release earlier this year. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is reportedly planning to release the successor of Redmi 3 before the year ends or early next year.
According to the Chinese benchmarking website Geekbench, the upcoming smartphone will run on a Snapdragon 625 processor from Qualcomm. Tech observers are saying that the Redmi 4 definitely carries better specs under the hood than its predecessor.
The upcoming device is reportedly an ideal gadget for mobile gaming with its Adreno 506 graphics chip paired with eight Cortex-A53 cores at a speed of 2 GHz, as reported by Mobipicker. It will also carry 3 GB of random access memory (RAM) and will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with MIUI8. Reports of the device getting the new Google Android Nougat operating system has yet to emerge.
Geekbench reports the device's complete spec list, which includes a 5-inch IPS LCD screen with 1920 x 1080 display resolution. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and the Adreno 506 graphics processing unit (GPU). The device will be powered by a 4100 mAh battery and Quick Charge technology, which is better than the previous model.
There are speculations suggesting that the fourth generation Redmi smartphone will be announced by the Chinese company on Aug. 25. However, Xiaomi has yet to confirm these reports.
According to a report by Gadget360, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 will sell for CNY 699 or around $105.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi is also gearing up for the release of the second generation Mi Note. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is said to run on a powerful Snapdragon 821 processor from Qualcomm paired with a whopping 6 GB of RAM. There are speculations that the upcoming device will arrive in two variations–the 64 GB storage variant and the 128 GB storage model.
