Xiaomi Yi 4K release date news 2016: New action camera beats GoPro Hero 4 in terms of performance?
While rumors are circulating that GoPro might release its next generation action camera, the Chinese tech company, Xiaomi, has decided to roll out its own version of the device in the U.S.
The Xiaomi Yi 4K has officially entered the tight U.S. tech market via Amazon.com. The online retail store started the shipment on July 12 across all states.
According to reports, the new Xiaomi action camera is said to have enough features and specs to topple the current GoPro Hero 4. Experts are saying that the Xiaomi Yi 4K beats the Hero 4 in many aspects. What's interesting is that consumers can get the Xiaomi device for only $249.99, which is half the price of the current HERO4 Black ($500).
The Xiaomi Yi 4K and GoPro Hero 4 also have several similarities including the Ambarella A9 chipset. Both action cameras also carry the same 12-megapixel Sony Sensor - IMX 117 for HERO, while the Yi sports the IMX 337.
Other features they share is the time lapse video and photo functions. Both the Xiaomi Yi 4K and GoPro Hero 4 also have the same 3840 x 2160px resolution or 4K at 30 fps. They also share the same capabilities of capturing videos at 1080p or 1,920 x 1,080px resolution at 120fps and 720p or 1,080 x 720px resolution at 240fps.
Meanwhile, features of Xiaomi Yi 4K that the GoPro Hero 4 don't have is the 2.190-inch Retina display technology with 330ppi. It also has a 640 x 360px resolution.
Xiaomi also claims that their new action camera has better battery features at 1,400 mAh. The company added that it can record 4K video at 30 fps for two hours straight. Apparently, the current GoPro can only run for an hour when capturing videos at the same setting.
