Xperia Z3 vs G Flex 2 Review: Comparison of Specs, Price - Sony Faces Stiff Challenge From Curved LG Device
Sony has long been churning out premium devices as part of its smartphone range and the Xperia Z3 is one of them. However, it faces a stiff competition from the LG G Flex 2, which is bigger and has a distinctive curved body.
Design
The Xperia Z3 has a premium build featuring a rounded frame made of aluminum with a coating of glass on its back panel and nylon on its edges. As for the G Flex 2, it has a plastic body that is curved from top to bottom and a self-healing coating on its back panel, a special technology that can heal minor scratches in about 10 seconds. Both devices weigh 152 grams.
Display
Coming to their displays, the G Flex 2 has a curved P-OLED screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 403 pixels per inch, while the Xperia Z3 has a 5.2 inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch.
Specs
The G Flex 2 has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 2 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU and Adreno 430 GPU, while the Xperia Z3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU.
Memory
The 16 GB and 32 GB versions of Xperia Z3 both have 3 GB of RAM while the 16GB version of the G Flex 2 has 2 GB of RAM. Its 32 GB version has 3 GB of RAM. Both devices also have memory card slots which can be used to add external storage of up to 128 GB.
Camera
The LG G Flex has a 13 megapixel camera at its rear, while the Xperia Z3 has a 20 megapixel version.
Price
The Xperia Z3 is priced at $630 without a contract while the G Flex 2 could cost anywhere between $700 to $737.
