YouVersion Reveals Most Popular Bible Verses of 2014
YouVersion, the creators behind the Bible App, have recently released data indicating the most popular Bible verses searched in 2014.
A recent announcement from YouVersion indicates that the country where most people were using their app to search for Bible verses and reading the Holy Book was from Israel.
The app also found which Bible verses are most searched in specific countries. YouVersion reports that in America, Brazil, and Nigeria, Philippians 4:8 was the most searched Bible verse, while in Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Australia, users of the app searched for Jeremiah 29:11 the most this year.
"What's interesting to me is that several of those countries are definitely not majority Christian," YouVersion founder Bobby Gruenewald told The Huffington Post in a recent interview. "And in some cases, the Bible isn't that accessible or isn't considered to be acceptable culturally."
As The Christian Examiner reports, one popular verse that was absent from the list was John 3:16, a well-known verse among Christians.
Infographics released by YouVersion also indicate that when using their Bible app, believers read 9.9 billion chapters and listened to 1.6 billion audio chapters in 2014.
Of the Bible passages read in 2014, YouVersion found that the most universally popular passage was Romans 12:2 that reads: "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
According to The Christian Post, the YouVersion app successfully reaches 87 percent of Christians worldwide who are able to access the app using internet.
