'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date, plot rumors 2016: Launch delayed indefinitely, Beast Titan to be introduced, Armin to be killed off?

"Attack on Titan" has been a widely popular franchise since the manga series debuted back in 2009, and now fans are itching to see what's in store for the much-anticipated season 2 of the hit anime series.

The last episode of season 1 aired way back September 2013 in Japan, which means fans have been waiting for a few years now to see the sophomore season of their favorite anime.

The show's production has been previously delayed a number of times, and unfortunately, reports say that the release date for season 2 has been pushed back indefinitely. None of the people involved in production has confirmed this, and official details about the new chapter remain scarce.

As for the storyline, rumor has it that season 2 will highlight a key character's demise. The manga version already featured Armin's death which is also expected to be included in the anime series. A new character is set to be introduced as well: Beast Titan. Unlike the Colossal Titan, the Beast Titan is more intelligent which makes it a bigger threat. Reports say that the creature has strong leadership skills which might make it harder for the group to kill the Titans.

For the uninitiated, "Attack on Titans" is set in a world where humans built massive walls to secure themselves from Titans — gigantic humanoid creatures who consume humans without any apparent reason. The plot follows a group of individuals including Eren Jaeger, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackermann along with their good friend Armin Arlert. Their lives were changed forever after a Colossal Titan was able to infiltrate their town. As they all seek for vengeance, they join the Scout Regiment which is an elite group of people who fight Titans.

The release date for "Attack on Titan" season 2 is not yet announced, but according to reports, the show will likely return sometime in February 2017.
