Despite being a spinoff from all-time hit drama "Breaking Bad," "Better Call Saul" has proven to be very different from the original series.  Composer Dave Porter, who scored both shows, recently revealed how Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould always made sure to keep "Better Call Saul" shine on its own.

Speaking with The Wrap, Porter explained that the producers are determined to keep the series as a separate entity from its parent program.

"When we began to work on 'Better Call Saul,' Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould were adamant that the show would be very different than 'Breaking Bad,' which meant reevaluating everything and creating a whole new musical vocabulary for the show," he said. "At first I had a hard time with that, admittedly. I had gone in expecting to do a lighter variation of what we had done so successfully for 'Breaking Bad.'"

Aside from the superb scoring, fans are also looking forward to the appearance of "Breaking Bad" villain Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito). During a recent interview with late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, lead actor Bob Odenkirk confirmed that Gus will join the series. Since "Better Call Saul" serves as a prequel, Gus' arrival will possibly feature how Jimmy started being involved in the drug business.

"I'm looking for him," Odenkirk said. "He's coming back... I imagine he'll be in the first moment...Let's go."

Season 2 left off with Chuck (Michael McKean) secretly recording his brother's confessions, leading viewers to speculate that he will use it to implicate Jimmy. Although plot details for season 3 remain under wraps, the upcoming installment will reportedly feature a bigger arc which focuses on Jimmy's transition to becoming the flamboyant "criminal" lawyer Saul Goodman.

An official release date has yet to be announced, but "Better Call Saul" season 3 is expected to premiere sometime around February 2017 on AMC.
