Almost four years had passed when Electronic Arts (EA) and Visceral Games released "Dead Space 3," but fans are still waiting for any announcement regarding the release of the fourth installment of the game.

Due to the dismal sales performance of "Dead Space 3" when it was released in 2013, speculations claim that the game developer will already cease to create a "Dead Space 4" in the future. But former EA Labels president turned EA Worldwide Studios executive vice president Patrick Söderlund told Game Rant back in 2013 that they were not planning to stop making any "Dead Space" game.

"Have we killed [Dead Space]? No, of course not. But right now that dev team is focused on something else," Söderlund said.

But the EA executive also explained the need to put the development of "Dead Space 4" on hold, at least for the meantime. According to Söderlund, "Is it better to put them on the fourth version of a game they've done three previous versions of before? Or is it better to put them on something new that they want to build, that they have passion for?"

Yet other reports claim that while game developers would still love to come up with a new "Dead Space" game, it may not be possible at the moment because their hands are still full due to other obligations.

In an interview with GamesTM as reported by Cinema Blend, Visceral Games general manager Steve Papoutsis claimed that game developers would still like to make a fourth installment of the third-person horror survival video game. Yet they had been focused on creating "Battlefield Hardline" back in 2015.

At the moment, the game developers are currently busy with an untitled "Star Wars" game, which is slated for release in 2018. This could mean that the "Dead Space 4" might not be released anytime soon.
