When "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands" is released in March 2017, players will get to explore the largest open-world environment that game developer Ubisoft has ever created. Recently, new details were revealed giving a preview of the game's setting, Bolivia.

According to Polygon, Bolivia will have 21 regions, 11 ecosystems and 26 bosses. Each region will be fully developed with its own towns, waterways and civilian population. The non-player characters (NPCs) in the upcoming game will also have their own industry and set of traditions.

"We have a full agenda for the NPCs, so they really live in the world. They go to bed at night. They get up. They go to work. Whether or not you interact with them or not, they live their own life," Benoit Martinez, the game's lead artist and technical art director, told the publication.

Furthermore, each of the 11 biomes will have its own climate, topography, plants, and animals. Players can expect to see mountains, canyons, valleys, highlands, the jungle, lakes, and even swamps.

In order to fully capture everything that Bolivia has to offer, Martinez revealed that a team went to the country to investigate and take thousands of pictures along with hours and hours of footage. They pieced everything together, including minute details, in the process of creating a sensible game world.

"The reason why we needed so much space on our map is because we wanted so many different environments. If we had put in everything it could look like a mini-golf course or something. So we needed room to spread, to be large," Martinez added.

Given the massive open-world environment of the upcoming tactical shooter, Ubisoft hopes that players will be encouraged to explore both the wilderness and the urban places featured in the game. The objective is also for players to create their own strategies and utilize the various resources, weapons and skills found within the game.
