'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' release date, plot spoilers news: One character to switch sides?

Will the Guardians get a surprising ally in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2"? | Facebook/jgunn

Nebula (Karen Gillan) might not be as evil as before in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," at least according to the latest plot reports.

The clue lies in a certain part of the description for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," which was released following the wrap-up of the filming. Part of the description is as follows:

The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

According to Radio Times, the foe most likely to switch sides in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is Nebula, who happens to be the sister of Gamora (Zoe Saldana).

The site explains that there's no way for Ronan (Lee Pace) to make a complete 360 since he is already dead. The same can be said with his right-hand man Korath (Djimon Hounsou).

The Ravagers led by Yondu (Michael Rooker) were already allies with the Guardians in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" film. That leaves Nebula, who wasn't all too friendly with the heroes in the first movie.

This is also in line with what Gillan said about her sisterhood with Gamora will be fleshed out in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," hinting that they will be working side by side this time.

It appears that Nebula won't be as hostile in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" as she was in the first film. Hopefully, more details about this will be shared in the months to come.

Director James Gunn and lead star Chris Pratt along with some of the cast will be at the San Diego Comic-Con, where more details about the movie are expected to be revealed.

In a video shared by Gunn on Facebook showing the last day of shooting for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," he said that the film is going to be "the greatest spectacle film of all-time."

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will be in cinemas May 5, 2017.
