It may be recalled that in the previous seasons of "House of Cards," Claire (Robin Wright) walking out of Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) life rendered him weak, especially in the midst of his campaign to reclaim his seat in the White House.

According to a new round of speculations, Claire's thirst for power will be illustrated in the new season. After scrambling to the vice presidential spot in the previous season, Claire is expected to go all the way.

At some point in "House of Cards" season 5, rumors say that Frank will be unseated from the presidential post. As to how that will happen, Claire will allegedly be pulling the strings.

Fans speculate on Reddit that either she will get him impeached or eliminate him completely so he won't do more trouble. This can also take place if the show is willing to go down the same road the original did.

For those who do not know, "House of Cards" is an adaptation of the 1990 political thriller drama in the United Kingdom, which was also adapted from a novel written by Michael Dobbs.

In the series, Frank Underwood's counterpart is Francis Urquhart, who died in the end at the order of his wife Elizabeth in her bid to secure their legacy and save him from going to prison and being defiled by history.

Should "House of Cards" season 5 travel the same direction, it is unclear for now. However, it is being established on the show that Claire is just as power-hungry, if not hungrier, as her husband.

Beau Willimon won't return as showrunner in the next season. Instead, "House of Cards" writers Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese will share the role.

"House of Cards" season 5 is expected to premiere on Netflix in March 2017.
