iMac 2016 release date, specs & features rumors: 27-inch iMac to appear before yearend with Intel Kaby Lake processor?

It has been rumored that the public might see the arrival of the new iMac 2016 version. Tech enthusiasts believe that is probably high time for Apple to release a new version of the iMac since its last refresh happened several years ago. More hints are coming in that would suggest the imminent release of iMac 2016, possibly even this month.

As reported by Technobuffalo, the official website of Best Buy may have already revealed the existence of iMac 2016 when it briefly showed the product and its details. The upgraded iMac is said to be a 27-inch model, having the seventh generation Intel Kaby Lake Core i7 processor. One of the iMac 2016 variants has 32 GB RAM and 2 TB Fusion Drive. It also has an impressive screen feature with Retina 5K display. Furthermore, the mentioned iMac product was listed in the "New" section of Best Buy, meaning that it is not the older model of iMac. The product is listed to have a $3199.99 value.

The Intel Kaby Lake processor listed for the iMac 2016 is quite questionable according to Apple Insider, as there are no clear reports yet that Intel has finished shipping the chipsets. There are also rumors that the Kaby Lake processors might not be delivered completely until the end of the year.

With this, the possibility that the recent Best Buy listing with the iMac 2016 being mistakenly posted cannot be ruled out. After all, Apple should be the first party to reveal the new iMac units, if ever the Cupertino-based tech giant does have plans to release them this year.

International Business Times reported that Apple may have another press event at the end of October, wherein the Macbook line will be in the spotlight. The last Sept. 7 Apple Event was mainly focused on the new iPhone 7, having no Macbook sightings or mentions. On Oct. 24, Apple is rumored to unveil the new versions of the Macbook Pro and Macbook Air. While the focus of the October Apple Event this around will be on the Macbook laptops, Apple's latest desktop PC is also expected to be revealed on the same day.
