The fifth season of "Longmire" was only released by Netflix a few weeks ago but fans of the show are now speculating whether the network will renew the crime drama TV series for another season.
According to reports, Robert Taylor, who portrays the titular character Sheriff Walt Longmire, and writer Craig Johnson hinted that viewers will be seeing "Longmire" for another season.
For the uninitiated, Longmire is based on the "Walt Longmire Mysteries" novels written by Johnson. "Longmire" launched on A&E but was cancelled after the fourth season. The show was then picked up by Netflix for a fifth season.
The network just acquired the show but fans are already quite worried since the company has a history of cancelling shows which seemed promising.
Though official announcements about the show's renewal have yet to be made, rumor has it that season six will premiere in 2017, if it gets renewed. Reports say that discussions about the succeeding series are currently underway.
Like in the books, fans of the TV adaptation will see the sheriff and deputy sheriff Vic Moretti's (Katee Sackhoff) relationship blossom.
To recap, Longmire was paired up with Dr. Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker) in the fourth season. Their relationship, however, was immediately put to the test when unknown assailants kidnapped the doctor and nearly killed the titular character. In the fifth season, though Longmire appeared to be a bit unhinged, he still dedicated his energy to finding out the identities of Monaghan's kidnappers.
The sheriff and the deputy sheriff will both be assuming their roles in upholding the peace in Absaroka. Aside from solving cases, their relationship will reportedly develop further in the sixth season of the series. Furthermore, viewers will see Vic dealing with her pregnancy.
Stay tuned for more updates on the sixth season of "Longmire."
