Netflix's "Marco Polo" has yet to be renewed for a third season. The actors, along with the fans, of the show are still waiting for the network to make the announcement. Furthermore, viewers are hopeful that another network will pick up the show if Netflix does decide to cancel it.

The second season premiered on the first of July of this year. Even though the show received positive reviews and a relatively good viewership, Netflix still has not renewed it. "Marco Polo" is reportedly the second most expensive production on the small screen, next to HBO's "Game of Thrones." Perhaps it was the show's expensive budget that got the network questioning its renewal.

If Netflix is not interested in the show, other networks might be. According to reports, the showrunners are doing their best to seal a deal with prospective networks. The showrunners are reportedly in talks with HBO's Richard Plepler, AMC's Josh Sapan, A+E's Nancy Dubuc, and NBC Universal's Bonnie Hammer.

Even though the network has not expressed their enthusiasm for the third season, the cast and crew of the show are reportedly prepared for a renewal, except for Benedict Wong, who portrays Kublai Khan. A few cancellation rumors point toward the actor as the cause. Wong will not reprise his role as the great Khan to pursue different projects, reports say. His leaving the show is reportedly a factor in the network's decision to cancel "Marco Polo." In the previous seasons, Wong reportedly juggled his time on this TV show along with projects that are due this year.

John Fusco, who portrays the titular character Marco Polo, has been tweeting about the show and has been answering many praises on Twitter. His posts are giving viewers a little hope about a renewal.

The recent reports have not been confirmed by the network and the production team. Until an official announcement comes out, fans of the show should not lose hope and should treat the reports as speculations.

Watch out for more updates on "Marco Polo."
