Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date, specs news: Laptop delayed to early 2017 due to design issues

It's been seven months since Microsoft released its first ever laptop, the Microsoft Surface Book, but fans can't get enough of it and are now clamoring for the Surface Book 2.

Unfortunately, it might be a long way to go before the second-gen laptop gets here. The device will not be out in October as users expect. It will allegedly be delayed to early 2017.

According to reports, the development team behind the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is experiencing some issues on the design of the laptop.

The developers are purportedly trying to employ Ultra HD on the Microsoft Surface Book 2 as well as Thunderbolt 3 from Intel, which is deemed as today's fastest and most versatile connection to any dock, display and any other secondary devices.

The development team wants to buy more time for these stellar-sounding features to be successfully integrated on the Microsoft Surface Book 2. Sadly, this feat will take a while to perfect, leading to the said delay.

An early 2017 release could mean a launch between January and March so the delay of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 doubles the waiting time for users who have been wanting to see what else Microsoft has to offer in the field of laptop and notebooks.

Although this is bad news for many, the extra months of waiting will be easy to get by with the thought that it will make the Microsoft Surface Book 2 better.

With regards to the other features of the Microsoft Surface Book 2, it is rumored it will offer the latest Intel i5 and i7 core processors, a USB Type-C port and an 8-megapixel camera.

Microsoft Surface Book is the first laptop that the tech company from Redmond has ever released. For a laptop first, the device did well and has effectively challenged the MacBook line by Apple.

Previous rumors actually suggested that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will be released next month to compete with the MacBook Pro 2016 since the latter is believed to be launched at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) this June.
