The month of June has come to an end and until now there is no sign of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. Previous reports claimed that the device will be unveiled sometime this month. It turns out that the said release date is nothing but a rumor. Now fans who are interested in purchasing Microsoft's next powerhouse hybrid are wondering when it will possibly hit store shelves.

New rumors though have emerged, suggesting that the next Surface Pro iteration will be out by next year. According to reports, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 could be launched in spring 2017. There were speculations that it would be in October this year but it's less likely since rumors have it that Microsoft is delaying the second part of the big Windows 10 update until next year.

The update, called the Redstone or RS2, is said to be incorporated into the new hybrid laptop to bring in new and improved features. This means that it will be now a lot better compared to the one found in the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

But since none is confirmed yet by the Redmond-based technology company, tech observers will have to stay tuned for the actual release date of the device.

Meanwhile, hearsays about the specs and features have made fans excited for its arrival. New reports suggest that the new hybrid laptop will feature a 4K Ultra HD display. If this turns out to be true, this will be the first time for the series. The Surface Pro 4 only carried a maximum pixel resolution of 2,736 x 1,824. Yet, reports say that the 4K panel in the Surface Pro 5 will not be the standard. It could be offered instead as a paid add-on upgrade.

This means that the rest of the models will still have the conventional 2K screen. Moreover, Intel's seventh generation Kaby Lake processor is also said to be equipped under the hood. It will improve battery life as well as other features.
