Fans of the musical drama television series are relieved to know that "Nashville" will still be returning to the small screen for its season 5. While on the brink of a cancellation, the show got its second chance through its new network.

"Nashville" season 5 will still have its main characters which include Rayna James (Connie Britton), Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere), Scarlet O' Conor (Clare Bowen) and Avery Barkley (Jonathan Jackson). Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten) and Gunnar Scott (Sam Palladio) will also be coming back.

But aside from the old characters, fans will be meeting new faces in the show. Deadline detailed that "Looking: The Movie" star Murray Bartlett will be added into the mix to play a recurring role in season 5. He will be portraying the role of a character named Jakob Fine, who is described as a renowned fashion designer. He is also said to be appealing and full of charisma.

Jakob was previously rumored to be Will Lexington's (Chris Carmack) new romance. However, such rumors were debunked. The two will still meet but there will be no special connection since there's a possibility that Kevin Bicks (Kyle Dean Massey) will be returning. This means he and Will could be given a chance to reunite.

Meanwhile, spoilers suggested that Juliette is going to survive the terrible accident that she went through in the previous season's finale. Fans may recall that the last episode in season 4 ended with a plane crash in which Juliette was a passenger. But despite that heavy cliffhanger, fans will have nothing to worry as Juliette will be alive and well.

Reports said that she will be going through therapy with the help of a new character named Allyson Del Lago, who will be played by newcomer Jen Richards. Allyssa will be at Juliette's side throughout the whole ordeal.

"Nashville" season 5 will premiere on Jan. 5, 2017 at its new network, CMT.
